Key Features of the Okehampton Interchange

- New Infrastructure and Facilities: The station will be unstaffed but feature a range of customer-friendly amenities, including a ticket vending machine, bicycle storage, a waiting shelter, defibrillator access, and signage to help navigate the site. - Hourly Train Service: The station will be served by an existing GWR hourly train service running from 07:00 to 22:30. This integration ensures minimal disruption to the current timetable while accommodating a 2.5-minute dwell time for stops at the new station.

- Station Design: Octavius, the framework contractor, continues to develop the station’s design, which is now at the Prior Application stage for planning.
- Timeline: The target decision date for planning approval is 10th October 2024. Enabling works, including vegetation clearance and piling, are set to begin in autumn 2024, with the station expected to be operational by spring 2026.
- Further Development: Initial designs will be completed by the end of 2024, with construction fully underway by spring/summer 2025. As part of these works, a track slew is scheduled for March 2025.
