Okehampton Interchange Officially Opens
The brand-new Okehampton Interchange station on the Dartmoor Line is now officially open, marking a major rail milestone for West Devon and North Cornwall connectivity. Situated roughly 2.2 km east of the existing Okehampton station and right off the A30, the £18m multimodal facility features a 200-space car park, step-free access, sheltered cycle storage, and a dedicated bus interchange. Located closer to the highway, the Interchange acts as a park-and-ride hub, we hope that it speeds up connections to Exeter and the national rail network for Bude travelers, while the original Okehampton station remains open for town centre access.
Service 6 Updates (Bude – Holsworthy – Okehampton)
Starting Sunday 30th August 2026, Stagecoach Service 6 will introduce several operational changes:
- Single-Decker Vehicles: Service 6 will transition to single-decker buses aimed at offering fuel-efficient operations aligned with customer demand.
- Route Revision in Holsworthy: Buses will operate via a more direct route along Chapel Street, no longer serving Underlane and Bodmin Street.
- Rail Connection Timings: Minor timing adjustments have been made to accommodate the revised Holsworthy route and strengthen overall rail connection reliability at Okehampton.
Connect Bude is keeping a close eye on these vehicle size changes to ensure luggage capacity and passenger seating remain adequate during peak travel times.
Service 95 Extension (Bude – Boscastle – Tintagel – Wadebridge)
In a positive win for local coastal transport, Cornwall Council and Go Cornwall Bus have confirmed that the Sunday Service 95 will extend past its traditional summer cut-off.
- Extended Schedule: The Sunday service will now continue operating throughout September and up to the first Sunday of the October half-term period.
- Timetable: Schedules will remain identical to the existing Sunday timetable.
- Use It or Lose It: Because rural routes face ongoing financial pressures, continued usage throughout autumn is vital to demonstrate demand and secure future funding for this coastal connection.
