Connect Bude at the Bude-Stratton Heritage Festival 2024

This year’s Bude-Stratton Heritage Festival, held on 21st July 2024, was a day filled with a strong sense of community. Among the many vibrant stalls and attractions, Connect Bude proudly hosted a stand, engaging with festival-goers and spreading the word about our mission to reconnect Bude to the national railway network.

A Day of Connection and Engagement

From early morning, our team was busy setting up the stand, adorned with informative posters and flyers. As the gates opened and visitors began to stream in, it quickly became apparent that this was going to be a day of significant engagement.

Welcoming New Supporters

One of the most rewarding aspects of the festival was the opportunity to meet new supporters. Many visitors, both locals and tourists, stopped by our stand to learn more about Connect Bude. They were keen to understand our goals, the progress we’ve made, and how they could contribute to the cause. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and support from individuals of all ages. Families with young children, retirees, and everyone in between showed a keen interest in our vision for a better-connected Bude.

We handed out pamphlets detailing our recent achievements, upcoming events, and ways to get involved. Our display, showcasing the potential benefits of reconnecting Bude to the rail network, sparked many insightful conversations. Visitors appreciated the potential for reduced traffic congestion, enhanced tourism, and improved local economy that a rail link would bring.

Reconnecting with Existing Supporters

The festival also provided a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with our existing supporters. Long-time members of Connect Bude and familiar faces stopped by to share their experiences, offer feedback, and renew their commitment to our cause. It was a joy to hear stories from those who had been advocating for better transportation links for years, and to celebrate the milestones we’ve achieved together.

These conversations were invaluable. They not only reaffirmed the dedication of our supporters but also provided fresh perspectives and ideas to propel our efforts forward. Many supporters expressed their delight in seeing our continued presence at community events and praised the progress we’ve made in raising awareness about the importance of reconnecting Bude to the railway network.

Building Momentum

The positive energy and the overwhelming support we received at the Bude-Stratton Heritage Festival have given us renewed momentum. We experienced a large rise in website traffic for the day and hope to recruit new members who are eager to contribute their time and skills to the cause.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on our successful participation in the Bude-Stratton Heritage Festival, we are filled with optimism for the future. The connections made, the conversations had, and the support garnered have reinforced our belief in the importance of our mission.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited our stand, shared their stories, and supported our cause. Your enthusiasm and commitment are what drive us forward. We also thank the organizers of the Bude-Stratton Heritage Festival for providing us with this fantastic platform to reach out to the community.

As we move forward, we are more determined than ever to see Bude reconnected to the national railway network. We invite everyone to join us on this journey—whether by becoming a member, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure a brighter, better-connected future for Bude.
